Commonly known as Fumewort or Bird in a Bush, Corydalis solida is a bee-loved tuberous rootstock native from the Balkans to Scandinavia. Its name translates from Latin as Crested Lark, for its floral spurs. Commonly grown in sun-dappled woodlands, deer-proof Corydalis yields racemes of 4-petalled tubular flowers with attractive orchid-like spurs and finely cut, ferny foliage. Tolerant of a bit more moisture than most flower bulbs, it requires rich, well-draining soil in filtered sunlight to partial shade. Bulb size: 5 to 6 cm. April. Plant 4” deep and 4” apart. HZ: 5-8. 4” to 5”.
