Narcissus Altruist
(3 O-R) This award-winning British hybrid has a 3" coppery golden-orange perianth that pales as it matures, and a shallow, bowl-shaped crimson-orange cup. Originally classed as a Large Cupped Narcissus in 1965, it was reclassified as a Small Cupped variety in 1972. It is a parent of Large Cupped Narcissus Limbo. Narcissus Class: Small Cupped (Royal Horticultural Society Division 3). Bulb size: 14/16 cm. April. HZ: 3-8. 14" to 18".

Small Cupped Narcissi
Small Cupped Narcissi have cups that measure no more than one-third the length of their petals. They have perfectly formed perianths and refined cups, each of which boasts of intricately colored edges, throats or eyes. Characteristically offering one flower per stem, just one Small Cupped Narcissus stem in a tall bud vase makes a stunning display. They are also much loved for the fact that deer and rodents do not like to eat them!
All Narcissi tolerate a wide range of sunlight from full sun to semi-shade. Narcissi prefer well-draining soil, hate to get wet feet and love to be fed with a 4-10-6 or 5-10-5 granular organic flower bulb fertilizer three times a year. Allow the foliage to thrive and die back naturally without braiding or premature removal. DNII bulb size: 14/16 cm, unless otherwise noted. Bloom time in horticultural zone 5: April. Plant 6" to 8" deep and 6" apart. Horticultural zones 3-8. Height: 14" to 16", depending upon variety. Narcissus classification: Royal Horticultural Society Division 3.
