Syn: The Mariposa Tulip. A northwest native circa 1890, these lustrous, cup-shaped flowers have contrasting brushmarks, spots and grass-like foliage. They prefer rich, well-draining soil, hate freezing and thawing, like spring moisture as well as a good dry period over the summer. Top size bulbs. May/June. Height: 12" to 24" depending on the variety. Plant 4" deep and 4" apart. HZ: 6-9.
